Ben will be taking another assignment for his second three year term on June 3, 2008.  We are sorry to see Fr. HONORING CONGRESSMAN JOSEPH MOAKLEY

June 1st – 6PM Mass and 7PM presentation

On Sunday, June 1st at 6:00pm there will be a Mass at St. Brigid Church for Congressman and Mrs. Joseph Moakley.  Assistant Professor Chris Rodriguez and some Suffolk students will be in attendance to share with us a Presentation titled: “On the Front Lines of Democracy: Suffolk Students Fulfilling Joe Moakley’s Mission in El Salvador.”  In January 2008 Suffolk students visited El Salvador and retraced South Boston native and Suffolk Law School alumnus, Joe Moakley’s footsteps.  As a US Congressmen, Moakley traveled to El Salvador in the early 1990’s to investigate the killing of six Jesuit priests and two nuns by the US backed Salvadoran government.  His investigation led to Congressional funding cuts and the 1992 Peace Accords that ended 12 years of civil war.  As Suffolk students heard first hand from many who met Moakley, he is remembered in El Salvador as a man of courage, honor and warmth.  Please join us in remembering Joe Moakley.
